Here at UK Customs Solutions, the client is at the heart of everything we do. With the latest advancements in the EU-UK trade relationship, we have trained hard to become your Brexit customs advisors.
We are a Felixstowe based company established in 2014 with a strong service culture and experienced team of experts. We very quickly achieved AEO accreditation through vigorous compliant processes and auditing and as a result gained the trust of many clients.
Starting with just a handful of employees, we are now a powerhouse of 80+ experts that belong to different departments to satisfy our clients’ various customs declarations needs.
What strengthens our position as the leading customs formalities and compliance professionals is not just the numerous training that each member of our team has taken over the years, but also our in-house IT solutions department that works tirelessly to develop systems that help to streamline the processes involved in customs declarations and cut costs.
How have our Brexit customs advisors prepared for Brexit?
Starting off as just four staff members back in 2014, the growth was gradual at first. However, we quickly realised that the 2016 referendum results will require us to step up our game in terms of the staff numbers. Having developed strong relationships with our clients allowed us to keep on growing the team.
In the first half of 2019, we increased our staff count to around 40 and took over a much larger office. At that point, the Brexit deal future was still very uncertain but we knew we had to be ready for different scenarios and this significant expansion was a way to get ourselves prepared.
2020 was a testing year for all small businesses. Nevertheless, we adapted and still managed to train our staff in preparation for Brexit. We invested a lot of resources into being Brexit-ready, which included another £14k office expansion, new senior and junior staff joining the team, as well as a series of training sessions for our customs brokers and a “Brexit Pack” PDF guide. This was our biggest expansion yet, doubling the staff count and adding many experienced team members.
Prior to the UK leaving the single market, we were all expecting the number of customs declarations to go up, which would inevitably lead to more admin hours and higher costs. Our IT professionals had a great track record of developing software solutions that cut admin time from 45 minutes to 2-3 minutes. We believed offering such service to our clients would be immensely beneficial and made the decision to expand the IT department.
“No deal is better than a bad deal”
As Theresa May famously said, “No deal is better than a bad deal”. Whether the Brexit deal the negotiators managed to reach just days before the end of the transition period is a good or a bad deal, is up to everyone’s own discretion. What has always been clear to us is that preparing for the worst is the best approach. And so we have!
Our experts mastered the customs declarations required after Brexit, including the Customs Freight Simplified Procedures (CFSP), simplified frontier declarations (SFD), any deferred declarations, as well as any submissions required to enter the EU Ro-Ro terminal. They are your Brexit customs advisors, capable of providing you with the solutions you need for your business to keep on trading smoothly!
